Duties

This Supervisory Intelligence Research Specialist (Group Supervisor) position is located in the Southern Cone Division, Lima Country Office in Lima, Peru. Among other duties, the incumbent will:

- Plan and direct the activities of staff in the collection, evaluation, production and dissemination of drug law enforcement intelligence.

- Oversee and plan the operations of an intelligence program with worldwide implications. Assess unforeseen developments, new phenomena, and difficulties encountered.
- Initiate, plan, and evaluate broad and comprehensive research and analysis programs, procedures, and policies.
- Prepare and present briefings to high-level federal, state, and local law enforcement representatives and to foreign dignitaries regarding difficult, complex, and controversial drug trafficking issues.
- Perform the administrative and human resource management functions relative to the staff supervised.
- Establish guidelines and performance expectations for staff members.
- May be required to testify during career as an Intelligence Research Specialist.

Foreign Language: Spanish- must achieve a limited working proficiency (Reading 2 Speaking 2)
Post Differential: 15%
Danger Pay: 15%
Cola: 10%
Length of Tour: 2 years

*Special Note: Education of dependents through high school provided by U.S Government in accordance with appropriate regulations.

Salary

- $104,604 - $135,987/year

Conditions of Employment

- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Background and/or Security Clearance
- Open to DEA Employees and CTAP Eligibles ONLY
- Drug testing designated position
- Polygraph Required
- Mobility Agreement Required
- Successful completion of a one-year supervisory probationary period is required (unless already completed)
- Successful completion of the mandatory Basic Intelligence Research Specialist Training Course.
- Individual selected and dependents are required to pass physical examination given by Department of State

Qualifications

GS-14:
Must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 Federal grade level performing such duties as providing direction and leadership to a multi-agency staff engaged in the collection, analysis, evaluation, production, and dissemination of drug law enforcement intelligence in support of drug law enforcement activities; and performing preliminary research, analysis and evaluation of raw intelligence data for segments of large research projects and studies.
