This Academic Director is the lead manager for all teachers and all academic programs for the Maximo Nivel institute. This includes:
Native English Program Native Spanish Program TEFL Certification Service Learning Internships Tasks The Academic Director manages all daily operations of the Academic Office and is responsible for a team of 35+ English teachers, Spanish teachers and a small staff. The Director is responsible for:
teacher recruiting and management, curriculum management, support materials, and quiz and exam administration. managing client service with respect to exam retakes, grade reports, certification requirements, and attendance records. leading new teacher orientation and onboarding, and all teacher meetings and trainings. managing things like scheduling, payroll, and time off, among other things. providing support in terms of books, materials, exams, quizzes, photocopies, and rooms. generating reports using Google Suite and Microsoft Office. The role has close contact with learners, clients, and their families; the Academic Director must be excellent at dealing with the public!
The Academic Director is a member of the in-country Executive Team and works closely with other directors. The Academic Director does not have his/her own schedule of classes. However, they are responsible for substituting and leading classes when necessary.
Requirements Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred TEFL, TESOL, or CELTA certification required At least 3 years administrative professional experience, ideally as a Head Teacher, Director of Studies, or Institute Director Fluent English; Advanced Spanish required Excellent computer skills including Zoom, Google Suite, Microsoft Office, etc. Excellent interpersonal skills; excellent writing skills; strong team skills and a "love" for team training Focused on results—learner success, learner satisfaction, and building an excellent teaching team. Adept at setting goals and managing competing priorities. Metric driven; able to understand, analyze, and present data to support business decisions.
