Job Summary
In this role, you will perform project or site expediting activities. You will contact suppliers, interpret production schedules, and progress reports, prepare critical items reports, provide early warning of delays or supplier deficiencies, monitor supplier quality, and assist with tracing missing material.
Your initiative and corrective actions will help ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
Major Responsibilities :
- Contacting suppliers to obtain timely submission of engineering data, and to follow-up on material acquisition, production progress and shipment.
- Evaluating production schedules and progress reports from suppliers to determine if suppliers' programs and work progress meet jobsite requirements.
- Coordinating with planning and scheduling, field material coordinators or jobsite project expeditors and construction to establish priorities, sequences, and required delivery dates and instructing suppliers accordingly.
- Participating in pre- and post-award meetings to review and discuss schedules and potential problem areas that may impact required shipment dates.
- Understanding and executing work in accordance with the project sourcing strategy.
- Accountable to ensure appropriate approval authorities are obtained prior to executing commitments.
- Responsible for assigned orders from development through closure, to include engagement with other disciplines on purchase requisition development, the acquisition and delivery of purchases, and order closeout;
to include supporting management of backcharges and claims.
- Performing purchasing and expediting activities at a jobsite to ensure the timely delivery of materials and equipment to meet project needs.
- Interpreting production schedules and progress reports to ensure they are realistic,
that required activities occur on time, and that interface between activities is maintained.
- Coordinating shipping arrangements or tracking requests with the project Logistics representative.
Education and Experience Requirements :
Requires a Bachelor of Science in Project and Supply Chain Management (or international equivalent), Business Administration, Civil or Industrial Engineering, and 7 years of relevant experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills :
- Ability to work with engineering, construction, and the other procurement team members.
- Understanding of EPC procurement activities.
- Understand how to support project schedule.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the legal and commercial aspects of global procurement of equipment and materials.
- Good knowledge of general business practices and administrative procedures.
- Proficiency in negotiating terms and conditions with suppliers.
- Good oral and written communication skills regarding technical and production matters with both project and supplier personnel.
- Advanced English and Spanish level; proficiency in oral and written for a professional communication.
- Availability to work in an atypical regime in Cajamarca at more than 4200 meters above sea level.
