Select how often (in days) to receive an alert: Date: 20 Sep 2024Company: Orica About OricaIt's an exciting time to join us – we are shaping the future of mining through digital and automated technologies, embracing new ways of thinking, pioneering innovation and reimagining the way we work.About the role The Advisor - Regulatory provides guidance and advice on best practices solutions for explosive authorizations, packaging, transportation, international shipping, cargo preparation and export/import laws & regulations and maintains strong hands on interaction with relevant government regulatory agencies and legislation What you will be doing Key AccountabilitiesMaintains excellent working relationship with regulatory bodies i.e.: US Department of Transportation (USDOT), US Department of Commerce(USDOC), Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) and other regulatory offices governing explosive approvals &; authorizations.Acquires and manages all explosive product approval requests and authorizations with USDOT and NRCanMaintains and manages relationship with USCG, Homeland Security and various Port Authorities; US & Canadian waterfront facilities/ports for imports & exports of explosive commodities raw materials and finished goods.Manages all export transactions to ensure compliance with US Department of Commerce trade regulations.Works with various government entities to ensure Orica has direct input and representation in these affairs and decisionsAcquires and manages all export licenses for commodities requiring US Department of Commerce/Bureau of Industry and SecurityInitiates and manages all commodity jurisdiction requests with US Department of Defence and Trade to determine export commodity classification numbers (ECCN) for various explosive and non-explosive products.Applies for and manages all Advisory Opinions (AOs) with Department of Foreign Affairs International Trade Canada (DFAIT) regarding commodity determinations for explosives manufactured in Canada and offered for export.Keeps abreast of any newly proposed regulations and relay that information to the various product managers.Manages all import licenses for Canada and ensure newly authorized products are added to these licenses (Orica Canada and OIPL)Manages NAFTA registration with Customs BrokersEffectively communicates with various Orica product managers the changing regulations that directly affect Orica's commercial explosive offerings in transportation North America and globally.Maintains in depth knowledge of regulations pertaining to road, ocean and air transport of explosives.Keeps abreast of current and emerging business plans and timelines affected by regulatory and compliance activities.Initiates written Export Management Compliance Program for Orica North America and ensure Orica is complying with the guidelines for export transactions for all explosive commodities for North America.Develops training materials and best practice training program for international shipping solutions for ocean, air and domestic carriage.Manages product approvals by coordinating test plans and procedures with competent authorities and test labs for all products domestic for foreign intended for the North America market.
