Accountable for carrying out high-quality data capture, analysis, and interpretation leading to business decision-making. Assists in project evaluation, provision of technical guidance, and supports the maintenance of a quality and healthy portfolio. Implements high standards of work and technical rigor through collaborating with stakeholders to ensure that the overall plan and deliverables are being met.• Advise the lead opportunity and Manager PE in technical exploration decisions that involve geological, geochemistry, and geophysics data interpretation with timely recommendations that are properly documented.• Identify prospect areas and appropriate methodologies for sampling and data collection to build ore body knowledge that enables investment decisions for BHP.• Develop, implement, and monitor sampling-analysis protocols & QA/QC programs to quantify the quality, risks, and compliance of geological data.• Design and execute data collection methodologies and interpretations to provide data-driven survey guidance for the organization.• Perform geological modeling based on integrated datasets to analyze and interpret target areas and generate valuable orebody knowledge.• Build, validate, deploy, and document Machine Learning/Predictive models to classify and predict future events at scale.• Identify, engage, and manage a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders.• Apply a scientific methodology to investigate various hypotheses or questions and draw inferences on possible solutions.• Plan, track the delivery of, and manage a project to generate value and drive the achievement of project outcomes.About YouThe ideal candidate must have:Strong commitment to safety, social value, and sustainability.Sound understanding of porphyry-skarn copper deposits, geological features, and mineral system frameworks, with application to exploration techniques.Understanding of the overall objectives of the country and wider objectives of the Metals Exploration.Deep technical understanding and a strategic view of how to accomplish results through influencing to achieve successful performance in the role.Required:Degree in Geology or related science from a reputable university.Proficiency in technical presentation and ability to lead opportunity framing sessions.Sound field experience.Solid understanding of exploration workflow as applied to base metal exploration.Proficiency in common industry software for geoscientific data (ArcGIS Pro, Leapfrog, Oasis Montaj, etc).Availability for field work around 50% of the time.8+ years of experience in mineral exploration.Spanish and English fluency.Recommended:Experience in the design and execution of geophysical data acquisition techniques.Experience in other commodities or deposit styles besides Copper Porphyry.Risk management understanding and capability to execute risk assessments.About Our ProcessAt BHP, we are committed to employing individuals who align with the BHP Charter Values and meet the requirements of the role.
