M627) Principal Geotechnical Tailings Engineer ZwAmec Foster Wheeler is seeking a Principal Geotechnical Tailings Engineer in Lima, Peru.
This is a permanent, full-time position.Responsibilities:Consult on tailings, heap leach, and mine waste management projects for clients in Peru, South America, and internationally.Undertake business development with new and existing clients, establishing and maintaining client relationships.Lead and manage multi-disciplinary project teams to deliver high-quality projects on time and within budget.Coordinate the delivery of engineering services and project management according to client-approved scopes of work.Participate in marketing efforts and prepare technical proposals and reports, which may include design, analyses, geotechnical subsurface explorations, tailings deposition planning, heap leach facilities, earthworks design, slope stability analysis, and construction management.Provide senior review design, collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team including hydrogeologists, hydrologists, geochemists, and rock mechanics experts.Perform Dam Safety Inspections, Dam Safety Reviews, Dam Safety Evaluations, and Risk Assessments.Provide leadership, management, and mentoring of technical staff, including junior staff.Participate as a member of Wood's Global Mining Sector Team to coordinate business activities across offices and divisions.Manage contractors and sub-consultants on projects.Skills / Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical, Civil Engineering, Mining, or Geological Engineering (or equivalent); an advanced degree is highly desirable.A minimum of 20-25 years of experience in the mining sector, specifically in the design and construction of tailings and heap leach facilities; experience in Rock Mechanics is an asset.Experience with tailings characterization and technologies, including conventional, thickened, paste, and filtered deposits for metal mining.Effective communication and interpersonal skills, along with management and leadership qualities.Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain client relationships and manage and develop a team internally.Project management experience in a mining or construction-related environment, including project budgeting and cost forecasting.Strong oral and written communication skills.Registered as a professional engineer in Peru.Ability to travel domestically and internationally is required.Demonstrated business management capabilities would be an asset.Language: English and Spanish required.Eligibility: Must be eligible to work in Peru.Company Overview: Wood is a global leader in engineering and consultancy across energy and other sectors.
