The Strengthening Systems for HealthSecurity Activity (SSHS) aims to help the Government of Peru buildrobust capabilities to better prevent, swiftly detect, andoptimally respond to infectious diseases and other health threatsto ensure national and global health security.
To do so, thisActivity aims to improve Peru's GHS capabilities,
while adopting aOne Health approach by addressing technical gaps in three priorityareas through the following objectives : Improving the Prevention ofInfectious Diseases through the Reduction of Disease Transmissionfrom Animals to Humans (Zoonotic Diseases);
Improving the Detectionof Infectious Disease through Improved Disease SurveillanceSystems; and Improving the Response to Infectious Disease Outbreaksthrough a Stronger Health Security Workforce.
What You'll Do inYour New Role : The Director will oversee the implementation of theentirety of this Activity, be the primary point of contact USAIDholds accountable for results, provide strategic leadership andtechnical vision, and ensure ethical and excellent management ofthe Activity and its staff (including subawards).
The Director willensure that the Activity's objectives are achieved with technicalexcellence and that contractual requirements are met on time andwithin budget.
The Director will liaise with USAID, relevantGovernment of Peru officials, development partners, otherimplementing partners of USAID / Peru,
and relevant global healthsecurity and One Health stakeholders within and outside of Peru tocultivate open, productive, and collaborative relationships thatsupport the implementation of this Activity.
The Director willensure that the award complies with the cooperative agreement'sterms and conditions and USAID policies and regulations.
The COPwill be expected to identify issues and risks related to projectimplementation in a timely manner, suggest appropriate projectadjustments, and ensure that systems are in place to mitigate therisk of fraud, waste, and abuse.
Required Qualifications : 1.Master's degree or other advanced degree is required, in a relevantfield such as public health, animal health, environmental science,development studies, management, etc.
2. Between 8 - 10 years ofexperience in a senior role managing large, complex,
and integratedprograms of similar scope and dollar value (range between $10 to$30 million) is required.
3. Previous experience working in theregion is desired. 4. Previous experience working on USG projectsand working knowledge of USG regulations is desired.
5. Provenability to work collaboratively with governments, variousministries, development partners, the private sector, communityorganizations, NGOs, and research organizations, and academicinstitutions to advance the health and well-being of animals,people, and / or the environment is required.
6. Demonstratedexperience leading and managing multi-sectoral andmulti-disciplinary teams to achieve project results in a fast-pacedand complex environment is required.
7. Demonstrated experience inthe field of Global Health Security and One Health is desired. 8.Excellent interpersonal, writing, and English language skills arerequired.
