**Director of Development**The Director of Development's responsibilities and duties cover three main areas:- Fundraising and Finance- Marketing and Customer Relations- Alumni RelationsThis post and the person appointed may come from a variety of occupational backgrounds and may not necessarily have experience in raising funds for educational purposes. The Director of Development will be expected to exercise considerable initiative in developing and growing the Development function.The Governing Body and Head of St Aloysius' College, Glasgow, are seeking an exceptional individual tobecome their new Director of Development. Founded in the mid-nineteenth century, the College occupies several buildings both old and new, from the Italianate Chandlery Building (1866) to the Junior School (1999). A new spacious and secluded Kindergarten was opened in 2013.A Brief HistoryThe College was founded in 1859 by the Society of Jesus to educate Catholic boys from in and around Glasgow, opening with just 25 pupils. In 1866, the College relocated to its current campus in Garnethill and theJesuits focussed their attention on enhancing its reputation as the school of choice for Catholic families in Glasgow.In the 1970s, two major developments took place: the College became fully independent and it also started accepting girls in 1979.
