We currently work in over 20 countries in Africa, Latin America, and Asia.NCBA CLUSA's USAID-sponsored Farmer-to-Farmer program sends American farmers and agribusiness professionals on a 2-week agricultural development assignment, promoting sustainable economic growth and agricultural development worldwide. Volunteer technical assistance from US farmers, agribusinesses, cooperatives, and universities aims to increase the resiliency of smallholder farmers' businesses by focusing on diversification in production, value addition, and other income-generating activities; climate-smart production and strengthening farmers' cooperatives and producer organizations (POs), with a cross-cutting emphasis on gender, youth, and social inclusion.Job DescriptionThis F2F assignment will be implemented in the Junin Region in Perú. The goal of this assignment is to support the members of the Cooperativa Agraria Sonomoro VRAEM Ltda who work in cacao on compost and biol production.The Volunteer will provide technical assistance and training on:How to prepare composting and biol using available inputs in the zoneApplication, monitoring, and evaluation of compost and biol producedFundamentals of soil health and nutritionDeliverables:On site training demonstration about active composting and biol production for Sonomoro's associatesTraining sessions about basic key concepts and benefits of compost and biol production for Sonomoro's associatesTechnical training sessions about soil health, soil nutrition, compost and biol principles, and monitoring and evaluation for Sonomoro's technical teamTrip ReportCommunity Outreach Activity upon return to the U.S.QualificationsDegree in agricultural engineering or soil conservation engineering.Experience in compost and biols production.Experience in facilitating training sessions and strong communication skills.Knowledge of the cacao value chain is desirable.Intermediate Spanish and experience working in international settings is an asset.Additional InformationSUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES WILL ALSO HAVE THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS:Ability to be flexible and available for two week volunteer assignments;Desire to promote cross-cultural learning and exchanges through technical assistance;Available for virtual communications with Host Organization and Staff;U.S. citizen or resident;Advanced English language skills in reading, writing, and speaking.All application materials must be submitted in English.
