NCBA CLUSA'sUSAID-sponsored Farmer-to-Farmer program sends American farmers andagribusiness professionals on a 2-week agricultural developmentassignment, promoting sustainable economic growth and agriculturaldevelopment worldwide.
Volunteer technical assistance from USfarmers, agribusinesses, cooperatives, and universities aims toincrease the resiliency of smallholder farmers' businesses byfocusing on diversification in production, value addition, andother income-generating activities;
climate-smart production andstrengthening farmers' cooperatives and producer organizations(POs), with a cross-cutting emphasis on gender, youth, and socialinclusion.
Job Description This F2F assignment will be implementedin the Junin Region in Perú. The goal of this assignment is tosupport the members of the Cooperativa Agraria Sonomoro VRAEM Ltdawho work in cacao on compost and biol production.
The Volunteerwill provide technical assistance and training on : - How to preparecomposting and biol using available inputs in the zone -Application, monitoring,
and evaluation of compost and biolproduced - Fundamentals of soil health and nutrition Deliverables : - On site training demonstration about active composting and biolproduction for Sonomoro's associates - Training sessions aboutbasic key concepts and benefits of compost and biol production forSonomoro's associates - Technical training sessions about soilhealth, soil nutrition, compost and biol principles, and monitoringand evaluation for Sonomoro's technical team - Trip Report -Community Outreach Activity upon return to the U.
S. Qualifications- Degree in agricultural engineering or soil conservationengineering. - Experience in compost and biols production.
- Experience in facilitating training sessions and strongcommunication skills. - Knowledge of the cacao value chain isdesirable.
- Intermediate Spanish and experience working ininternational settings is an asset. SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES WILL ALSOHAVE THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS : - Ability to be flexible andavailable for two week volunteer assignments;
- Desire to promotecross-cultural learning and exchanges through technical assistance;- Available for virtual communications with Host Organization andStaff;
- U.S. citizen or resident; - Advanced English languageskills in reading, writing, and speaking. All application materialsmust be submitted in English.
Compensation in the form of lodging,transportation, and per diem, is provided by NCBA CLUSA. Nosalary / consultant fees are paid.
