The opportunity EY's FSO taxpractice provides comprehensive and specialized tax assistancetailored to the unique needs of the asset management industry.
Youwould join our tax professionals who are knowledgeable andexperienced with varied and specialized facets of hedge fund,private equity fund and mutual fund taxation, including fund andorganizational structuring, tax compliance, and on-call advice.
Your key responsibilities As a manager in our wealth & assetmanagement tax practice, you will be responsible for managing andcoordinating tax compliance and advisory work for clients.
You willwork on key client issues in domestic federal, international andstate and local taxation with a focus on implementing taxstrategies that align with the client's business objectives.
Youwill manage tax compliance accounts for hedge funds and or privateequity funds.
You will review extensive securities analysis, makeappropriate tax adjustments, and provide sign-off for theproduction and delivery of K-1's and partnership tax returns.
Youwill be responsible for reviewing partnership agreements andprivate placement memorandums for tax implications of items such asbook and tax allocations, stuffing provisions, management andincentive fees as well as run the day to day activities on theaccounts that are spread across various locations.
Skills andattributes for success 1. Strong technical knowledge in the assetmanagement tax area 2. Ability to analyse trading reports for taxcharacter and book tax differences, such as wash sales,constructive sales, straddles, and other securities issues 3.
Theability to teach or assist with firm in-house trainings 4.
Buildimpactful relationships with new and existing clients and maintainrelationships with firm leadership 5.
Create a positive andtrusting environment where team members know each other and feel apart of their team 6. Able to identify key tax technical issues andraise the appropriate questions before the work is sent for reviewto the partner or senior manager and consult when necessary 7.
Managing multiple work assignments and deadlines To qualify for therole you must have 1. A bachelor's degree in an accounting, financeor a business discipline, and a minimum of 5 years of relevant taxexperience;
or an advanced degree in tax or law and a minimum of 4years of relevant tax experience 2. A CPA (or equivalentinternationally recognized accounting designation), Enrolled Agentand / or LLM certification is required 3.
The ideal candidate wouldhave experience serving clients in the wealth & assetmanagement industry, which may include mutual funds, hedge funds,private equity funds or other investment vehicles 4.
Broad exposureto federal income taxation and exposure to state and local taxIdeally, you'll also have 1. Excellent managerial, leadership,organizational, and verbal / written communication skills 2.
