Located 800 km northeast of Lima, Peru, Yanacocha is South America's largest gold mine. The WTP Project consists of two of the largest acid water treatment plants in South America (the West one with capacity of 3,000 m3/hour and the East one with 2,700 m3/hour). Early works are currently being performed on site, preparing the permanent platforms and laydown areas for the East and West plants, in addition to the Class 2 estimate, Level 3 schedule and Execution Plan.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will provide project field engineering specialization and expertise with work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and subcontract coordination. Your recommendations will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements.
Major Responsibilities:
- Providing knowledge and expertise in a particular discipline, subject matter, or specialized process required for construction (Mechanical Equipment, Tanks, Heat exchangers, HVAC systems, Fire Detection and Suppression, reactor tender gallery coordinator, etc.).
- Providing technical consultation support to projects.
Work Planning & Packaging:
- Preparing and issuing Installation Work Packages.
- Leading preparation of construction drawings and schedules and the design of temporary construction facilities and ensures preparation of "as built" drawings and other job plans.
Material Management:
- Initiating requisitions for field purchases.
- Preparing quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment.
Quantities:
- Leading the verification of commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required.
Safety / Quality Control:
- Ensuring zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
Technical:
- Proactively considering continuous learning or show interest to pursue appropriate learning activities.
- Reviewing and approving inspection test plans.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related specialty with experience leading a team of field engineers during the construction stages, and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Technical knowledge of all phases of Mechanical equipment construction engineering relating to a single or multiple area.
- Thorough knowledge of construction activities as they relate to engineering disciplines, cost and scheduling.
- Experience in inspection and certifying during mechanical equipment installation.
- Experience in green and brown field work and mechanical equipment (static and rotating) installation.
- Experience in reverse osmosis and/or ultrafiltration plant installation.
- Knowledge of standards and specification and codes as applicable, including various safety procedures and practices associated with the construction activities.
- Knowledge and understanding of the application and requirements of the Project Environmental, Safety & Health (ES).
- Prior experience supervising and administering subcontractors/vendors.
