It's possible!The Project Engineer - Safety will have full ownership of various safety projects for the Safety Strategic Project initiatives across the North American plant network of James Hardie. As such, this role will travel 50-60% and can be based in any of our NA manufacturing plants - Tacoma, WA / Reno, NV / Fontana, CA / Cleburne or Waxahachie, TX / Plant City, FL / Prattville, AL / Summerville, SC / Pulaski, VA / Westfield, MA / Peru, IL.What You'll Do:Support plant project managers across multiple sites in managing various project deliverables including but not limited to:Scope development through FEL processResource allocationProject schedule developmentBudgetingEngineering designQuote acquisitionCapital request preparationVendor managementScheduling and executionSite safety during executionServe as the single point of contact for plant project managers on safety projects of various typesEstablish the processes and metrics necessary to meet the goals of each projectProvide progress updates to overall Strategic Project ManagerInterface with various vendors on technical and non-technical matters to ensure project execution on time and budget, maintaining good relationships with our established vendorsEnsure vendors understand and adhere to JH safety requirements and ensure all safe work practices are followedMonitor field execution of projects across the plants in your regionAssess project issues and develop resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and overall goals of the projectProvide strong leadership, business acumen, strategic perspective, and effective decision-making processes in support of plant projectsMaintain excellent people and project management skills - coaching, motivating, team building, and enhancing the success of plant projectsEnsure final documentation is accurate at end of projects – mechanical / electrical as built drawings, SOP's updated, etc.Conduct and review safety risk assessments and develop solutions to improve machine safety in regards to working from heights (platforms, fall protection, re-design of existing equipment, etc.)Lead critical reviews of equipment design, layouts, product flow, and safety zoning in collaboration with Engineering, Operations, Maintenance Reliability, and Safety teams to ensure alignment with scope and project objectivesEffective and timely communications to key stakeholders of ZH Program Status, beginning with project development and approval, through final commissioning and qualification.Provide Leadership, guidance, and mentorship to support Engineering team in establishing and implementing Zero Harm standardsLead Zero Harm capital strategy by collaborating with cross-functional teams and external suppliers in support of longer-term goals to facilitate best practice sharing and risk reduction for key organizational strategic objectivesManage activities associated with capital project execution to include equipment layout and scope development, requests for quote, project justifications, purchase order generation, contractor selection, on-site supervision during the installation and start-up of equipment, and proper tagging and accounting of new equipmentWhat You'll Bring:Bachelor's Degree (Engineering/Technical preferred)5-6 years of capital project experienceHeavy industrial manufacturing experience (preferred)In-depth knowledge of industry accepted Project Management methodologies (techniques, scope management, communications, and risk management) with respect to delivery of projects within cost and time constraints strongly preferredExperience in the management of financial budgets, projects, troubleshooting, team building, and overall leadership soughtExperience using SharePoint, Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Excel / SmartsheetAbility to interact, direct and influence cross-functional teamsProven success working in a fast-paced, goal-oriented, deadline-driven environmentAssist in site projects to help ensure that machine systems are designed using engineering solutions to minimize hazardsKnowledge of machine related industry standards and local regulationsUnderstanding of hazards associated with machinery as well as related safety protocols such as lockout tagout, electrical safety, working from heights etc.Providing Recommendations to update Equipment, Machine Guarding, Safety Standards etc.What You'll Receive:At James Hardie, we recognize that our success depends on our people.
