As a Software Analyst for our Optimization team, you will provide primary support for GenTrader, PCI's legacy optimization product, and related products. You will work closely with our development team to improve the quality of our products for our customers. More importantly, you will act as a liaison for PCI connecting our clients, building relationships, and updating our customers on our PCI products. Duties:
Analyze operational and cost data associated with power plants, fuels, emissions, and system operation constraints
Analyze customer GenTrader studies, and either resolve issues independently or work with algorithm developers to resolve issues
Analyze customer GenTrader user interface (UI) issues, and either resolve issues independently or work with UI developers to resolve issues
Apply mathematical modeling and optimization tools to interpret and solve customer requirements
Requirements:
Engineering or physical sciences degree preferred with some background in economics or finance
Experience in Power and Utilities Companies
3+ years of relevant technical or business work experience
Need to have some technical software background, preferably with some exposure to linear programming
Excellent analytical skills, with ability to learn and master generation commitment / dispatch and power trader financial / economic concepts
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Should be able to enjoy talking to customers to help build strong relationships
Able to identify problems, compare data from sources to draw conclusions, and make timely sound decisions
Must be able to perform well under pressure and after normal business hours if necessary
Must be able to handle multiple client issues in parallel
Ability to work effectively with others across multiple internal teams to accomplish organization goals and to identify and resolve problems
Must be committed to customer service and demonstrate appropriate attention to customer needs and requirements when making decisions and taking actions
