Our community-led development approach empowers communities to identify, promote, and manage sustainable, locally generated solutions.Job DescriptionNCBA CLUSA seeks Project Director (PD) candidates for an upcoming European funded rainforest livelihoods project in the Amazonian regions of Peru. The purpose of the project will be to build sustainable livelihoods around viable value chains, and capacity for: (1) natural resource management, and (2) rainforest governance (both at the community and local public sector level) among local communities indigenous to that region in order to prevent/mitigate deforestation, environmental degradation, and population flight in the Amazonian regions of Peru.The PD is responsible for the management of all project activities. The PD will need to coordinate with the donor/client representatives, public and private sector stakeholders, and other partners in the target region. Anticipated start date is August-October 2020.Responsibilities:Responsible for all aspects of the project, including technical, administrative, management, and operational.Guide and oversee technical delivery in all components of the project, including managing the performance and outputs of component leads, as well as administrative compliance with internal and external controls and obligations.Serve as the primary point of contact with the donor/client.Responsible for coordinating and communicating with the donor/client for timely submission of all written reports and other deliverables, and for ensuring quality control and overall responsiveness to meeting the objectives of the program.Serve as leader in a project unit, mentoring individuals, and collaborating closely with other management staff for effective supervision of at least one complex project.Negotiate and collaborate with host government officials, other donor activities, local organizations, private sector representatives, local community leaders, and other stakeholders.Manage contracts and internal controls, monitor project progress and the achievement of results, and meet all contract deadlines including reporting requirements.Qualifications:At least a Master's level degree in business, agricultural economics, agronomy, natural resource management, or an area relevant to agriculture value chain development from an accredited institution.At least 10 years of economic development experience with technical expertise in value chain assistance (preferably cacao, coffee, and non-timber forest value chains) and local community/cooperatives/producer organization development.Experience in forest preservation projects and knowledge of the local community and governance landscape in Amazonian regions, and knowledge of/experience with working with key institutions and organizations relevant to forest management issues in the region.At least 5 years of experience managing or implementing economic growth/value chain projects, preferably with a donor institution.Demonstrated track record of successful design, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation of interventions to improve value chain competitiveness, private sector development, and community development/local public sector coordination.Experience working with indigenous communities preferable.Supervisory experience and ability to manage and motivate team members in a local or international setting.Demonstrated ability to manage relationships with local partner organizations that achieve the desired results.Experience in working collaboratively and effectively with local national staff, donor organizations (USAID, World Bank, EU, NORAD, GiZ, etc.), host government counterparts, and other relevant stakeholders on project implementation.Demonstrated ability to prepare the deliverables associated with this contract, including annual work plans, annual reports, budgets, and reporting to the donor/client on results.Fluent in Spanish and English.All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.
