Select how often (in days) to receive an alert: Date: 22 Oct 2024 Location: Tacna, PE, 23800 Company: Orica About Orica About the role The Engineer - Blasting provides engineering support on the management of storage, handling and use of explosives at site, monitoring and auditing adherence to the explosives rules in line with company policy.
What you will be doing Key Accountabilities: 1.
Checks the blast design for each blast to ensure so far as reasonably practicable that when such firing takes place it will not give rise to danger.
2.
Ensures that explosives are stored, handled and used in a manner which is without risk to the health and safety of persons on or off site, and brings anything which may adversely affect this to the project manager's attention immediately.
3.
Determines the danger zone in consultation with the Blasting Engineer, project manager, and Police authorities.
4.
Ensures an adequate written Blasting Specification is produced for each blast and approved by the project manager.
5.
Ensures Explosive rules relating to the storage, handling and use of explosives are followed.
6.
Ensures that equipment and accessories used for shot firing are suitable and safe, and that site conditions are in line with the blast specification before work with explosives begins.
7.
Ensures that unsafe equipment and accessories are taken out of use immediately.
8.
Ensures that only authorized persons carry out work with explosives and are authorized in writing by the ministry of Interior.
9.
Where appropriate, checks that the electrical integrity of the shot firing system or circuit to minimize the risk of a misfire.
10.
Ensures that a second check of all surface connections/underground are still connected before they are covered.
11.
Ensures unauthorized persons are not allowed inside the danger zone.
12.
Checks the status of all the sentries before the blast.
13.
Ensures that all shots are fired from a safe location.
14.
Inspects the face and certifies the Blast free of misfires after completion of waiting time.
15.
Ensures that proper ventilation is provided at site during the time of charging.
16.
Ensures that sufficient ventilation is provided to clear away noxious fumes after the blast.
17.
Ensures that the safety officer completes gas monitoring regularly after the blast and records the content of gases.
18.
Monitors and audits adherence to the explosives rules in line with company policy.
What you will bring BAND F PEOPLE LEADER * Minimum 7 years experience post qualification.
* Experience leading a team, including building a collaborative approach.
* Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with a range of stakeholders.
* Strong strategic and commercial acumen supported by sound commercial judgement.
* Ability to plan, influence & execute.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills to present strategic logic and recommended pathways, coupled with the ability to present to key stakeholders.
BAND F TECHNICAL SPECIALIST * Minimum 3 to 6 years experience post qualification.
* Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with a range of stakeholders.
* Strong strategic and commercial acumen supported by sound commercial judgement.
* Ability to plan, influence & execute.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills to present strategic logic and recommended pathways, coupled with the ability to present to key stakeholders.
Role dependent - technical &/or functional business system applications required for tasks (e.g.
SAP, SF, Concur, analytics/visualisation tools, engineering software, etc.)
Span of control: * Headcount – X Direct, X Indirect Sphere of influence: * Department / Functional Sub-specialty SME Insert tertiary qualification required for role (e.g.
