Located 800 km northeast of Lima, Peru, Yanacocha is South America's largest gold mine. The WTP Project consists of two of the largest acid water treatment plants in South America (the West one with capacity of 3,000 m3/hour and the East one with 2,700 m3/hour). Early works are currently being performed on site, preparing the permanent platforms and laydown areas for the East and West plants, in addition to the Class 2 estimate, Level 3 schedule and Execution Plan.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will be responsible for monitoring compliance with the guidelines of WS (Workforce Services) - LR (Labor Relations), in order to avoid legal contingencies in general and possible joint and several liability. Informing and receiving operational and functional guidance from the Labor Relations Leader and/or WS Manager of the Project. Providing training to representatives of contractors and subcontractors of the project. Reviewing and controlling contractors specialized in issues related to labor management.
Major Responsibilities:
Interpreting and administrating labor union contracts and enforcing work rules, establishing staffing requirements, and participating in negotiations of labor contracts.
Working with subcontractor representatives performing work on the construction project to ensure labor contracts are interpreted correctly, and work rules are enforced uniformly.
Deciding on necessary preventative and/or corrective actions to minimize labor problems that may lead to work stoppages and construction schedule delays.
Conducting and/or providing guidance in conducting informal and formal grievance hearings in accordance with applicable labor union contract procedures.
Working with local and regional labor union representatives to maintain cooperative labor-management relations on the assigned construction projects.
Handling Labor Relations activities on small to medium sized projects, including resolving work stoppages.
Representing the company before the administrative authority in labor matters. Preparing and attending citations and hearings, protecting the interests of the company.
Representing the project in LR/IR/WFS activity including employee investigations, reprimands, terminations, communications, and training/coaching.
Leading moderately complex employee relations investigations and resolving employee disputes. Leading investigations regarding craft employee misconduct or other ER (Employee Relations) issues and deciding or approving appropriate disciplinary or corrective actions according to the work rules.
Responsible for implementing craft process improvement programs at the jobsite level.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires a professional degree in Law, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering or related fields, with complementary training in Labor Law, Human Resources, Labor Relations, and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in similar positions (including supervision), preferably in large-scale, high-value and complex EPC/EPCM projects or related to the construction industry and in the areas of labor audits, attention to inspections by the Ministry of Labor or SUNAFIL.
Experience in developing plans and implementing processes and procedures.
Extensive knowledge of the current legal-labor regulations of the general labor regime and special regime of civil construction, as well as in the labor legal regulations of Safety and Health at Work and Labor Supervision.
Knowledge of collective agreements signed by the civil construction branch.
Intermediate spoken and written English level (preferable).
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
A high level of personal integrity.
Availability to work in shifts at the remote site.
