Staff Embedded Software Audio Engineer in Palo Alto, CaliforniaFord Model E Platform Architecture Engineering is looking for a Staff embedded software engineer to work on Audio DSP platform software. In this role, you will be responsible for the development of automotive software solutions and embedded software modules for electric vehicles developed by Ford in the area of platform software of audio hardware and audio DSP.You will be expected to pivot quickly on new ideas. Failing fast will be normal.What you'll be able to do:Lead the successful development of next-generation software components for electric vehicles, working with architects, engineers, and other technical specialists to design an integrated solution.Analyze requirements related to the Audio Infotainment product and design an innovative solution for the Digital Signal processing and audio platform software of the product.Develop and test DSP software and audio platform software components, working with multi-core high-end SoC that runs multiple virtual domains on a Type-1 hypervisor with more than one domain sharing the Audio resources.Develop efficient audio DSP algorithms for various applications, including real-time audio processing, noise cancellation, echo suppression, and audio effects, spatial audio, 3D audio, and other advanced audio processing techniques.Provide substantial contributions to the analysis and selection of various third-party solutions and tools that could be used to develop faster-to-market DSP and platform software components that add value to the product.Devise methods and tools for Tuning Acoustic use cases in the vehicle to achieve industry-leading Acoustic performance of the Infotainment product.Develop DSP algorithms and platform software (i.e., drivers) to cater to the AVAS specification for EV.Customize, integrate, and test Audio Post-processing algorithms like Bass/Treble/Mid Boost, Loudness control, Limiters, Echo, and Noise cancellation algorithms for Voice use cases.Develop innovative solutions to create audio subsystem platform software (firmwares and drivers) for audio hardware like I2S, I2C, GPIO to route the audio output connected to DSP hardware.Analyze and estimate Clock and memory resources for the audio hardware and DSP solutions being designed and optimize the solution based on budgeted resources.The minimum requirements we seek:B.S. in Electrical, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.10+ years proven working experience in embedded software development.Experience in hands-on development and troubleshooting of embedded audio systems and audio platform software (firmware, driver).In-depth knowledge of Digital signal processing algorithms and hardware to develop various solutions associated with Audio post-processing algorithms.Programming experience in C, C++, and Python.Strong documentation, writing, and communication skills.Must be willing to learn and dive into unknown areas.You may not check every box, or your experience may look a little different from what we've outlined, but if you think you can bring value to Ford Motor Company, we encourage you to apply!Preferred Qualifications:Experience with DSP framework tools (i.e., AudioWeaver).Experience with Linux/Android Audio System and Linux/Android platform software development.Developed DSP algorithms to cater to the AVAS specification for EV.Customized and integrated Audio Post-processing algorithms like Bass/Treble/Mid Boost, Loudness control, Limiters, Engine Sound Enhancement, Active Noise cancellation, Beam Forming, and Voice Recognition.Experienced in specifying, designing, and developing Audio Tuning protocol for all audio algorithms in a production-friendly manner.Develop innovative solutions to create DSP subsystem in a para-virtualized environment, where these solutions are portable across multiple platforms.Analyze and estimate Clock and memory resources for the DSP solutions being designed and optimize the solution based on budgeted resources.What you'll receive in return:As part of the Ford family, you'll enjoy excellent compensation and a comprehensive benefits package that includes generous PTO, retirement, savings and stock investment plans, incentive compensation, and much more.
