Staff OTA Software Engineer in Palo Alto, CaliforniaFord Model E Platform Architecture Engineering is looking for a Staff embedded software engineer to work on the Platform OTA. In this role, you will be expected to work closely with the solution architect in clarifying requirements and be responsible for the development of the automotive software solution and embedded software modules for electric vehicles developed by Ford to perform reliable and secure platform updates. You will be expected to challenge the status quo and pivot quickly on new ideas. Failing fast will be normal.What you'll be able to do:Lead the successful development of next-generation software update components for electric vehicles.Work with architects, engineers, and other technical specialists to design an integrated solution.Partner with cross-functional teams to define objectives, scopes, timelines, milestones, and deliverables.Coordinate with system owners with planning, implementation approaches, testing, documenting, and maintain solutions for cloud, on-premise, and hybrid services, systems, or subsystems using defined processes and tools.Analyze and enhance efficiency, stability, and scalability of systems.Integrate solutions with existing embedded systems components.Interface with the hardware design team.Participate in software and hardware design reviews.Integrate and test new software builds on prototyping vehicle platforms.Deliver artifacts to OTA and program teams for incorporation into production releases.Develop regression tests and ensure proper code coverage for release software.The minimum requirements we seek:B.S. in Electrical, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.10+ years proven working experience in software engineering.Good understanding of POSIX environments and cloud technologies.Experience in hands-on development and troubleshooting of embedded systems.Programming experience in C, C++, and Python.
