This role
PayJoy is hiring a Senior Accountant to join our fast-paced, exciting,
and talented team. As our first internal accounting hire in PayJoy, you will have the opportunity to help build and streamline our internal accounting function with a primary focus on Accounts Payable. You will report to the Accounting Manager and partner with senior management members in our office to improve and automate our accounting processes there. You have a demonstrated track record of experience in accounting, possess outstanding communication skills, and share our mission to expand access to finance to the next billion consumers worldwide.
Responsibilities
1. Supervise daily transactions, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger and bank reconciliations.
2. Participate in external and internal tax and accounting audits.
3. Prepare financial accounting reports.
4. Manage month-end and year-end closing.
5. Monitor the daily performance of the accounting department.
6. Organize financial data into usable information and maintain up-to-date records.
7. Monitor the progress of financial and accounting objectives.
8.
Establish accounting policies and procedures, aligned with company objectives.
9. Ensure compliance with local accounting regulations in the company.
10. Ensure that the calculation of tax returns is correct and in accordance with accounting regulations.
Qualifications
1. 1-2 years of experience as accounting and/or financial supervisor.
2. Academic degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or Auditing. CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
3. Experience with accounting software.
4. Strong computer skills, MS Excel in particular (spreadsheet management, pivot tables and use of advanced formulas).
5. Strong knowledge of accounting principles, laws and regulations.
6. Excellent analytical skills to manage large volumes of data.
7. Attention to detail and accuracy.
8. Team management skills.
9. Ability to prioritize work.
10.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
11. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
12. Intermediate to advanced English and Spanish language level.
13. Prior experience working with NetSuite or any other ERP.
14. Experience with US GAAP, IFRS and local accounting standards in Ecuador.
