We are looking for a passionate Category Manager who will be working with Wilhelmsen Ship Management, a comprehensive global maritime group providing over half of the merchant fleet with essential products and services, along with supplying crew and technical management to the largest and most complex vessels ever to sail. With a pool of more than 9,200 seafarers and over 500 shore-based employees all over the world, Wilhelmsen Ship Management is one of the world's largest third-party ship managers with a portfolio of more than 450 vessels and counting. The position will be located at Menara 1 Sentral in KL Sentral area in the heart of Kuala Lumpur and it is easy to get to by public transportation. This position will report to the Vice President, Procurement.Purpose: To support the VP, Procurement in all aspects to contribute to the smooth operation of the procurement.Job Responsibilities:Performance and Procedures: Responsible and accountable for managing procurement categories as directed by the VP Procurement. Foster close collaborative interpersonal relationships with colleagues. Lead a strategic approach to procurement to segment spend into areas which contain similar or related products enabling focus opportunities for consolidation and efficiency. Analyze data to identify opportunities to make savings, increase efficiency or improve quality, or a combination of all three objectives. Devise long-term development strategies for product categories. Ensure strict compliance with the company's policies and procedures. Set and agree key performance indicators for suppliers, monitor frequently and report to relevant stakeholders. Ensure operational compliance with the company's purchase agreements.Leadership: Lead and mentor multi-disciplinary teams to undertake procurement spend reviews and make recommendations. Always demonstrate the highest standards of propriety and governance. Prioritize and manage tasks. Plan and prioritize projects and forward workload. Identify areas for improvement and challenge colleagues to implement framework agreements. Develop and share knowledge of WSM's global supplier base, establish relationships and maintain contacts with key suppliers worldwide. Conduct regular business reviews with key suppliers. Devise KPIs and monitor against targets. Identify improvement programmes for selected suppliers and lead teams to take action to implement improvements. Develop relationships with strategic suppliers at a senior level.Project Management: Work with colleagues, customers and suppliers to improve total cost performance and quality. Identify opportunities to optimize processes and procedures and present to senior managers for approval. Support digital initiatives and strategic sourcing projects with resources as and when required. Execute and monitor project rollouts. Work with VP Procurement to determine a GPS Strategic Plan for Procurement. Communicate plan to Procurement teams and other stakeholders. Monitor progress and take action as required to ensure the strategic objectives are met. Celebrate and publicize successes.Sourcing and Pricing: Monitor compliance with all relevant framework agreements and report. Identify and evaluate potential suppliers to ensure availability of items and ensure smooth operation onboard the vessels. Evaluate offers in accordance with the procurement process.
