Apply and join us on ourjourney towards global connectivity! Team Lead, Supplier QualityEngineering As our Lead of Supplier Quality Engineering, you willbe tasked with the unique opportunity to create a qualitymanagement system for the Astranis supply chain.
As Astranis scalesup the production of its satellites, we need to build robustbusiness processes, systems, and controls to ensure our hardwaremeets the highest level of quality and reliability.
This role willbe the first dedicated supplier quality person in the company andwill work closely with the Head of Production and the Head ofSupply Chain to build out a robust supplier quality program inorder to create a world-class satellite manufacturing operation.
The ideal candidate is committed to the mission,
dependable,self-motivated and autonomous, has extensive quality engineeringand management experience working on high-reliability products, andhas demonstrated the ability to build a quality system fromscratch.
Role - Develop business processes and implement systemsfor supplier quality functions such as configuration management,change control, nonconformance resolution, first articleinspection, root cause analysis, corrective actions, containments,statistical process control, etc.
- Write and maintain qualitymanagement aspects of our Supplier Handbook to govern how wedesign, build, and test supplier hardware.
- Work together withdesign engineering teams to develop standards for part drawings,including identification of key characteristics, dimensioning andGD, and first article inspection plans.
- Develop a processvalidation framework for qualifying new manufacturing processes atour supply base, and work with our supply base to implement.
- Create metrics and tools to monitor the success of products andprocesses in production, including product yield and statisticalprocess control (SPC).
- Develop a process for regular buildquality reviews to ensure that design intent is achieved andwell-communicated. - Assist the production leadership team byidentifying opportunities for risk reduction and removal ofcomplexity in designs and processes to improve manufacturability.
- Be responsible for building out, managing and supporting a team ofhigh-performing Supplier Quality Engineers. Requirements -Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering, ElectricalEngineering, Materials Science, Physics, or equivalent technicaldegree.
- 5+ years in quality engineering or quality managementrole. - 2+ years of leadership experience managing a technicalteam.
- Hands-on experience qualifying and maintainingmanufacturing processes for electronics and / or mechanicalassemblies. - Demonstrated application of process validation andcontrol methods such as PFMEA, design of experiments (DOE), andstatistical process control (SPC).
- Familiarity with implementingQMS standards such as AS9100 and ISO9001. Bonus - Experienceimplementing Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) withsuppliers.
- Strong SQL and Python skills, and demonstrated abilityto manage large data sets and create usefultools / dashboards / reports for others.
- Ability to use common CAD,PLM, and ERP systems such as Solidworks, Altium, and Arena. -Strong statistical analysis skills.
- Excellent communicationskills, written and verbal.
Ability to produce executive-levelreports and presentations to efficiently convey information aboutlarge data sets.
